WHERE WE LEFT OFF: The O’s fell to the Phillies Wednesday night, 6-4, in the in the rubber match of the three-game set at Citizens Bank Park…Adley Rutschman clubbed a three-run homer in the third inning, his 14th long ball of the year, surpassing his total of 13 home runs in his rookie season last year…Rutschman also extended his on-base streak to 12 games since July 9, tied for the second-longest streak of his career behind a 13-gamer from April 3-16, 2023…Austin Hays went 2-for-4 with an RBI to collect his team-leading 29th multi-hit game of the year.
SWEEPLESS IN BALTIMORE: With Monday night’s win in Philadelphia, the Orioles have now gone 72 consecutive series without being swept…According to the Elias Sports Bureau, that is the most consecutive series of at least two decisions (no ties) without getting swept in Orioles history (since 1954), ahead of 46 consecutive sweepless series from 1971- 72…It is tied with the 1921-23 St. Louis Browns, 1997-99 San Diego Padres, and 2003-05 Atlanta Braves for the sixth-longest such streak in MLB history, trailing the 1942-44 St. Louis Cardinals (124), 1906-09 Chicago Cubs (115), 1903-05 New York Giants (105), 1922-24 New York Yankees (83), 1904-1906 Philadelphia Athletics (74)…With a win in any of the next three games against the Yankees, the Orioles would extend their streak to 73 consecutive sweepless series, giving them sole possession of the sixth-longest streak in MLB history.
