WHERE WE LEFT OFF: The Yankees fell to the Cubs, 7-4, on Sunday at Yankee Stadium…RHP Domingo Germán (6.0IP, 1H, 2R/1ER, 3BB, 9K, 1HR) started and did not record a decision despite allowing just 1H over 6.0IP…1B Anthony Rizzo (1-for-5, 1 double, 1RBI) drove in the Yankees’ first run with an RBI double in the first inning…SS Anthony Volpe (1-for-4, 1R, 1HR, 2RBI) hit his 13th HR of the season with a go-ahead two-run shot in the sixth inning…C Kyle Higashioka (3-for-4, 1R, 1HR, 1RBI) tied his career high with 3H (seventh time of his career and second time this season)…hit his fifth HR of the season with a solo HR in the sixth inning…2B Gleyber Tores (2-for-5, 1R) and DH Josh Donaldson (1-for-3, 1BB) each reached base twice…RHP Ron Marinaccio (0.0IP, 1H, 2ER, 2BB) took his fourth loss of the season…Yankees relievers allowed 3ER in 3.0IP.

WE WERE ON A BREAK: The Yankees entered the All-Star break with a record of .500-or-better for the 27th consecutive season with an All-Star break (1996-2019,
’21-23)…marks the second-longest streak in Major League history behind the Yankees’ 31 straight seasons with an All-Star break from 1933-44, ’46-64.  Have posted a record of .500-or-better after the All-Star break in each of the last 29 seasons with an All-Star break (1993-2019, ’21-22), the second-longest such streak in Major League history, behind their own 31-year streak with an All-Star break from 1933-44, ’46-64.

HAWAIIAN PUNCH: INF/OF Isiah Kiner-Falefa has reached base in 11 of his last 13 games with an at-bat, batting .341/.408/.537 (14-for-41) with 9R, 2 doubles, 2HR, RBI, 6BB, 2SF and 1SB over that span (since 6/22).

NEW KID ON THE BLOCK: INF Anthony Volpe hit his 13th HR of the season on Sunday with a go-ahead two-run shot in the sixth inning…his 13HR were the third-most all-time by a Yankees rookie heading into the All-Star break, trailing only Aaron Judge’s 30HR prior to the 2017 AllStar break and Gleyber Torres’ 15HR prior to the 018
All-Star break.

Is batting .327/.352/.577 (17-for-52) with 11R, 2 doubles, 1 triple, 3HR, 5RBI, 2BB and 1SB in his last 14 games (since 6/25).

LEMACHINE: INF DJ LeMahieu returns to Coors Field this weekend for the first time as a Yankee…in seven seasons with the Rockies (2012-18), LeMahieu hit .299 (1,011-for3,385) with 498R, 161 doubles, 31 triples, 49HR, 345 RBI, 277BB and 75SB in 918 games…during his tenure with Colorado, he made two NL All-Star teams (2015, ’17), won three Gold Gloves (2014, ’17, ’18) and won the batting title in 2016 (.348).

In 470 career games at Coors Field, has hit .329 (572-for1,738) with 313R, 98 doubles, 22 triples, 21HR, 197RBI, 166BB and 47SB.

As a Yankee, has hit .308 (98-for-318) with 60R, 15 doubles, 4 triples, 12HR, 34RBI and 38BB in 83 Interleague games.

STANTON ISLAND: DH/OF Giancarlo Stanton has batted .342/.428/.746 (66-for-193) with 41R, 18 doubles, 20HR, 58RBI and 27BB in 51 career games vs. the Rockies.

Is batting .400/.429/.800 (8-for-20) with 3R, 2 doubles, 2HR, 4RBI and 1BB in his last seven games (since 6/28).

Is hitting .333/.355/.517 (20-for-60) with 7R, 5 doubles, 2HR, 10RBI and 2BB in his last 18 starts (since 5/28).

HOLMES SWEET HOLMES: RHP Clay Holmes has not allowed a run in 24 of his last 26 games (since 5/6), going 4-0 with six saves, a 0.68 ERA (26.1IP, 2ER) and 35K in that span…his 0.68 ERA in that span is the second-lowest among all Major League pitchers (min. 20.0IP), trailing only Baltimore’s Félix Bautista (0.66).

32 of his 38 appearances this season have been scoreless.

NOBODY BEATS THE RIZZ: INF Anthony Rizzo has reached base safely in 22 of his last 24 games (since 6/11).

TONIGHT’S STARTING PITCHER: LHP CARLOS RODÓN (0-1, 3.38 ERA)
LHP Carlos Rodón will make his second start of the season in tonight’s series opener at Colorado…the 30-year-old will pitch on extended six days’ rest…made his Yankees debut on 7/7 vs. Chicago-NL at Yankee Stadium, recording the loss despite allowing 2ER in 5.1IP (4H, 2BB, 2K, 1HR, 1WP)…was returned from rehab and reinstated from the 60-day injured list prior to the game…missed 88 team games…began the season on the 15-day injured list (retroactive to 3/27) with a left forearm strain and was transferred to the 60-day injured list on 6/1…finished sixth in the NL Cy Young voting in 2022 after going 14-8 with one complete game and a 2.88 ERA (178.0IP, 131H, 59R/57ER, 52BB, 237K, 12HR) over 31 starts with the San Francisco Giants…the two-time All-Star (2021 with Chicago-AL and 2022 with San Francisco) has finished in the top-six of Cy Young voting twice (fifth in 2021 and sixth in 2022)…over the last two seasons (2021-22), went 27-13 with two complete games and a 2.67 ERA (310.2IP, 222H, 98R/92ER, 88BB, 422K, 25HR) in 55 starts…over that span, led the Majors in K/9.0IP (12.23) and opponents’ SLG (.307), ranked second in opponents’ BA (.196) and opponents’ OPS (.567), third in WAR among pitchers (11.1, FanGraphs), fourth in ERA (2.67), opponents’ OBP (.259) and double-digit strikeout games (16), fifth in HR/9.0IP (0.72), tied for sixth in wins and seventh in strikeouts…tossed his first career no-hitter and the 20th no-hitter in Chicago White Sox history on 4/14/21 vs. Cleveland (9.0IP, 7K, 1HP)…was originally selected by the Milwaukee Brewers in the 16th round of the 2011 First-Year Player Draft but did not sign and went on to play three seasons at North Carolina State University (2012-14)…was selected by the Chicago White Sox in the first round (third overall) of the 2014 First-Year Player Draft…signed a six-year Major League contract with the Yankees extending through the 2028 season on 12/21/22.

VS. COLORADO/INTERLEAGUE: Has made four career starts vs. the Rockies, going 2-1 with a 4.22 ERA (21.1IP, 17H, 10ER, 6BB, 31K, 2HR)…has allowed 2R-or-fewer in three
of his four starts.

In one career start at Coors Field on 7/9/17 with Chicago-AL, recorded the loss after allowing 6ER over 5.1IP (5H, 3BB, 4K, 1HR).

Made three starts vs. Colorado in 2022 with San Francisco, going 2-0 with a 2.25 ERA (16.0IP, 4ER) and 27K…allowed 2R-or-fewer in each of his three starts…recorded double-digit strikeouts in two of those starts.

ROAD RULES: Will be making his first road start this season…went 6-6 with one complete game and a 3.73 ERA (94.0IP, 70H, 40R/39ER, 26BB, 116K, 7HR) in 16 starts on the road in 2022 with San Francisco…opponents batted .204/.263/.315 (70-for-343).

Allowed 2R-or-fewer in 10 road starts in 2022, 1R-or-fewer in seven starts and two starts were scoreless.

His .315 opponents’ SLG on the road last season was the sixth-lowest mark in the Majors and his .204 opponents’ batting average was the eighth-lowest.

ON THE MEND: Made three combined rehab starts with Double-A Somerset and High-A Hudson Valley, going 0-1 with a 0.84 ERA (10.2IP, 1ER) and 17K…commenced a rehab assignment with Somerset on 6/20 before being transferred to High-A Hudson Valley on 7/1.

In two starts with Somerset, went 0-1 with a 1.29 ERA (7.0IP, 1ER) and 9K…made his first rehab start on 6/20 vs. New Hampshire, allowing 1ER over 3.0IP (L, 1H, 1BB, 5K)…tossed 4.0 scoreless innings in his second start on 6/25 vs. New Hampshire (ND, 1H, 0BB, 4K).

In one rehab start with High-A Hudson on 7/1 vs. Wilmington, struck out eight batters over 3.2 scoreless innings (1H, 2BB, 1WP).
