COLORADO ROCKIES NOTES:
MID WEEK BASEBALL
• The Colorado Rockies host the Milwaukee Brewers for three games tonight through Thursday to conclude the six-game homestand before embarking on a six-game road trip to New York-NL (Friday-Sunday) and Pittsburgh (May 8-10).
• The Rockies are coming off a 3-4 road trip to Philadelphia (1-3) and Cleveland (2-1) … their series victory against the Guardians was their first series win since Sept. 16-18, 2022 at Chicago-NL when they took two of three from the Cubs … had lost or split each of their first seven series of 2023, the first time in franchise history that Colorado has failed to win any of their first seven series.
• Overall, the Rockies .310 winning percentage is last in the National League and is the second-lowest in franchise history through 29 games, ahead of the 2005 Rockies (8-21, .276).
PURPLE LINING
• On Sunday, the Rockies snapped their seven-game home losing streak to improve to 4-9 overall at Coors Field with a 12-4 win over the Diamondbacks … the 12 runs were a season-high, their most runs since scoring 13 vs. Arizona on Sept. 9 of last season.
• Lefty Austin Gomber recorded his second consecutive win after dropping each of his first four starts of the season … pitched six innings and allowed one run on three hits with two walks and four strikeouts … over his last two starts, Gomber has pitched 11 innings with one run allowed on six hits.
• The Rockies offense was highlighted by C.J. Cron’s 3-for-5 afternoon where he tallied one double, one home run (his sixth of the season) and four RBI … was his second three-plus hit and three-plus RBI game of the season (first: March 30 at San Diego).

• Colorado hosts Milwaukee for the first time since taking two of three at Coors Field Sept. 5-7, 2022 … dropped three of four at American Family Field earlier in the season July 22-25 … the Rockies are 3-1 in their last four matchups against the Brewers after snapping an eight-game losing streak against the club that spanned from June 19, 2021-July 24, 2022.
• Colorado is 7-3 against the Brewers at Coors Field since the start of 2019 and 52-32 overall at home against the club, outscoring the Brew Crew 550-425 (+125) across that span.
• OF Yonathan Daza is 18-for-50 (.360) in 14 career games against Milwaukee, hitting safely in 13 contests across that span … of his four career home runs, three have come against the Brewers (two at Coors Field and one at American Family Field).

• Colorado finished the month of April with a 9-20 record, their first time in franchise history recording 20 losses in the month of April … have lost 20 games in a month six times in franchise history prior to April 2023: three times in May (1993, 22 games; 2011, 21 games; 2005, 20 games), once in June (2014, 20 games), once in July (2000, 22 games) and once in Sept. (2012, 20 games).
• Heading into Sunday’s game, it was the fourth time in franchise history the club dropped seven-straight home games (last: June 2-16, 2022) … were outscored 69-24 (-45) over the seven-game home losing streak, the second-worst run differential in franchise history through a seven-game stretch at home … over this span, the Rockies starters posted an 11.44 ERA (28.1 IP, 36 ER) while opponents batted .373 (47-for-126) with 10 home runs.

• With his one run scored on Sunday, Charlie Blackmon broke his tie with Larry Walker for second on the all-time Rockies runs scored list at 893 … Todd Helton ranks first in Rockies history with 1401. • Blackmon’s 293 career doubles are four short of tying Walker for the second-most doubles in franchise history.
• Blackmon’s home run in the first inning on April 25 at Cleveland was his 40th career lead-off home run … his 40 lead-off home runs rank ninth all-time (Brady Anderson’s 44 rank eighth).
SPRING CLEANING
• Colorado is tied with Oakland for the most errors in baseball (21) and hold the second-lowest fielding percentage (.980) … have also allowed 20 unearned runs through its first 29 games, tied with the Los Angeles Angels for the most in baseball.
BIRD BATH
• Jake Bird ranks fourth in the Majors with 19.2 relief innings pitched (second in the NL) and is fifth among relievers with 21 strikeouts (second in the NL) … had pitched a career-high 13.0 innings without an earned run prior to allowing a Jose Herrera double that scored Alek Thomas in his last outing on Saturday … tallied seven hits, four walks and 17 strikeouts over that stretch … entering the game, his active streak of 11.1 IP with no earned runs allowed was the longest active streak in the National League and fourth-longest among Major League relievers.
• Bird has spun more than one inning seven times this season, tied for the fourth-most 1.1+ inning outings in the Majors with Brent Suter leading the way with nine.

YOUNG GUN
• The 26-year-old right-hander selected by the Rockies in the fourth round of the 2018 First-Year Player Draft out of Ohio State University.
• Born in Orlando, Florida but attended Walsh Jesuit High School in Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio … was the 2015 Ohio Gatorade Baseball Player of the Year and was selected by Toronto in the 25th round of the 2015 Draft but did not sign.
LAST TIME OUT
• Earned a second consecutive winning decision for the first time in his career, tossing 6.0 innings at Cleveland on April 25, allowing one unearned run on five hits with no walks and six strikeouts … first quality start of 2023, fifth of his career (last: Oct. 4, 2022 at LAD).
• Marked his first start without issuing a walk since June 21, 2022 at Miami … issued at least one walk in 17-straight starts (40 walks overall) from June 26, 2022 to April 20, 2023.
• Earned his first win of the season April 20 in Philadelphia after tossing 5.2 scoreless innings, striking out six and walking three … was his first career start allowing no runs (25 starts prior) … allowed zero runs in one career relief outing (July 29, 2022 vs. LAD).
FIRST THREE
• Went 0-2 with an 8.78 ERA (13.1 IP, 13 ER) with 11 walks and 15 strikeouts in across his first three starts of the season.
• Second loss of the season in his third start on April 15 at Seattle … pitched 3.2 innings and allowed five runs on five hits with three walks and five strikeouts … allowed just one hit through the first three innings before allowing five runs on four hits in the fourth before exiting with two outs and one on.
• Did not get a decision in the Rockies 7-6 win over the Nationals on April 9 at Coors Field, allowing three runs on six hits over five innings while walking three and striking out three.
• Took the loss in his first start on April 3, allowing five runs over 4.2 innings to the Dodgers in Los Angeles.
