Yasmani Grandal grounded out to shortstop with the tying runs on base to end the Angels’ 6-4 win over the White Sox.
Eloy Jiménez cut the deficit to two with a solo homer in the ninth and was followed by a Andrew Vaughn HBP, Gavin Sheets walk and Jake Burger pop out before Grandal’s final at-bat.
The Angels struck first with four runs in the first off Michael Kopech on back-to-back homers by Brandon Drury and Matt Thaiss … the Sox cut into the deficit on solo homers by Vaughn in the first and Romy Gonzalez in the fi fth.
Kopech (4 ER/4.1 IP) suffered his fifth loss and had his scoreless IP streak snapped at 15.0 … he struck out 10-plus for the second time this season and fourth time in his career.
