DETROIT TIGERS NOTES:

TIGERS DROP OPENER TO ROCKIES: The Tigers lost to the Rockies, 8-5, last night at Coors Field. Andy Ibáñez went 2×4 with a two-run home run, while Miguel Cabrera and Spencer Torkelson each had a hit and a RBI. Michael Lorenzen started for Detroit and took the loss, giving up five runs on seven hits with a walk and four strikeouts in 5.0 innings. Mason Englert worked 2.1 scoreless innings out of the bullpen, allowing a hit and striking out three.

ANDY I-BOMB-EZ: Andy Ibáñez had a pair of hits in last night’s game, including a two-run homer, his sixth of the season. Dating back to June 11, Ibáñez is hitting .344/.382/.625 with four doubles, one triple, four home runs and nine RBI. Among American League hitters in that span, he ranks fourth in slugging percentage, fifth in OPS (1.007), sixth in batting average and 10th in on-base percentage.

MIGGY AGAINST THE ROCKIES: Miguel Cabrera went 1×4 with a RBI in last night’s game, continuing his career success against Colorado. Entering tonight’s game, Cabrera is hitting .401/.490/.667 with 12 doubles, one triple, 10 home runs and 34 RBI in 47 career games vs. the Rockies. Among active players with at least 100 at-bats vs. Colorado, he ranks first in batting average and on-base percentage and third in slugging percentage.

JAKE RAKES: Jake Rogers finished last night’s game 1×3 with a run scored. Over his last 15 games, Rogers is slashing .318/.412/.659 with three doubles, four home runs and nine RBI. For the season, Rogers has 10 home runs this season, which ranks tied for second among American League catchers.

TIGERS AND ROCKIES: The Tigers and Rockies continue their only series of the season tonight. The two teams met last season in Detroit with Colorado winning two-of-three games. Their last meeting at Coors Field came in 2017 with the Tigers winning the series 2-1. Colorado holds a slight 18-16 edge in the all-time series, including an 11-5 advantage at Coors Field.

INTERLEAGUE ACTION: The Tigers continue their interleague schedule tonight against the Rockies. Detroit is 12-14 against National League foes this season, including a 2-4 record against NL West teams.
