COLORADO ROCKIES NOTES:

JET SETTING

  • The Colorado Rockies continue their 10-game road trip tonight with their first of three games in Milwaukee … began this road trip with three games in St. Louis (2-1) and will finish with four games at Los Angeles-NL (Aug. 10-13).
  • Colorado has gone 10-10 since the All-Star Break, winning three series, dropping three and splitting one … 11 of the Rockies’ last 14 losses since July 4 have come by three or fewer runs … conversely, seven of their 11 wins across that same span have been by three or fewer runs.

BREWSKIS

  • The Rockies swept their three-game set with the Brewers at Coors Field in early May, outscoring Milwaukee 19-to-9 in the series.
  • Colorado has won five in a row against Milwaukee and six of the last seven meetings following an eight-game losing streak in the match up … in the all-time series, the Rockies are 55-32 against the Brewers at Coors Field, 34-50 in Wisconsin.

SUPER SIZED McMAHON

  • 3B Ryan McMahon holds a career-best 17-game on-base streak (.289/.396/.467) surpassing his previous best of 16 set in 2019 … second-longest active streak in the Majors and the third-longest for a Rockie this season.
  • Since May 25, McMahon is slashing .298/.381/.564 with 15 home runs and 39 RBI … his OBP through this span is the 10th-best in the National League.

WHAT’S IN THE CARDS

  • The Rockies took a 2-1 series win in St. Louis, their first in The Gateway City since sweeping the Cardinals in four games in 2009 … are 8-36 in St. Louis since 2010.
  • The Rockies 9-4 victory Friday snapped a 12-game losing streak at Busch Stadium dating back to August 1, 2018 … marked the seventh time in franchise history the club scored nine or more runs in St. Louis and was their most since scoring 10 on June 6, 2009 … scored at least one run in each of the first four innings on the road for the first time since July 29, 2013 at Atlanta.

  • The Rockies have used 31 total pitchers this season, tied for the most in franchise history with the 2019 club … the Rockies have also tied the franchise record by using 15 different starting pitchers this season, tied with the 1993 and 2014 clubs for the most starters used in franchise history.

GOLDEN

  • Third baseman Ryan McMahon ranks tied for third in the Majors and first among third basemen with 16 defensive runs saved, while shortstop Ezequiel Tovar’s 10 DRS are the fourth-most among all shortstops.
  • 2022 Gold Glove winner Brendan Rodgers was reinstated from the 60-day injured list last Monday … his 22 DRS in 2022 led all second basemen and ranked second in the Majors overall.
  • Rookie center fielder Brenton Doyle was named the Co-Defensive Player of the Month by Fielding Bible/ Sports Info Solutions after he led all center fielders with six runs saved in July … his nine defensive runs saved on the season are the fourth-most among all center fielders while his 95.2 MPH average arm strength ranks fifth among all outfielders.
  • Rookie outfielder Nolan Jones has totaled four DRS … his seven outfield assists are tied for the 10th-most in the Majors and are tied for the Major League lead since June 21 … his average arm strength of 98.7 MPH is the best among all position players … 102.4 MPH throw on June 21 at Cincinnati tied with Brenton Doyle (June 29 vs. Los Angeles-NL) for the third-fastest outfield throw in the Majors this season.

THIS FOR THAT

  • The Rockies made five trades over the past two months prior to the trade deadline, acquiring a total of seven Minor League pitchers in return, three of whom now rank in the Rockies’ top 30 prospects per MLB Pipeline.
  • On Aug. 1, the Rockies acquired RHP Alec Barger from the Atlanta Braves in exchange for LHP Brad Hand … in a separate trade, the Rockies also acquired LHP Justin Bruihl from the Los Angeles Dodgers in exchange for cash considerations.
  • On July 31, the Rockies acquired RHP Jake Madden (#20 Rockies prospect) and LHP Mason Albright (#21 prospect) from the Los Angeles Angels in exchange for INF C.J. Cron and OF Randal Grichuk, along with cash considerations.
  • On July 24, the Rockies acquired RHP Victor Vodnik (#22 prospect) and RHP Tanner Gordon from the Atlanta Braves in exchange for RHP Pierce Johnson.
  • On June 24, Colorado acquired Minor League RHP Connor Van Scoyoc via trade with the Los Angeles Angels in exchange for INF Mike Moustakas

  • Peter Lambert makes his fifth start of the season today … recalled on July 21, his third stint on the active roster this season … recalled the first time April 18 but optioned the following day without making an appearance … recalled a second time May 4 before being optioned on July 2.
  • Native of San Dimas, Calif., selected by Colorado in the second round of the 2015 First-Year Player Draft out of San Dimas High School.
  • Brother Jimmy pitches for the Chicago White Sox.

LAST TIME OUT

  • Made his fourth start of the season on Tuesday against the Padres, taking the loss after allowing four runs on four hits over 4.1 innings.
  • His 79 pitches marked a season-high and the most in the Majors since throwing 82 on Sept. 20, 2019 at Los Angeles-NL.

HOT JULY

  • Did not allow an earned run in three starts during the month of July, tossing 14 innings while yielding one unearned run … walked three and struck out seven while holding opposing hitters to a .163/.226/.224 slash line.
  • Was the only pitcher in baseball during the month to start at least three games and not surrender an earned run.
  • His opponents’ .163 average was the fourth-lowest in baseball during July, the second-lowest in the National League.
