ABOUT THE A’S: The A’s have lost each of the last eight games to fall a season-low 46 games under .500 at 25-71 (.260)…that matches the A’s most games under .500 last year (56-102 on Oct. 1)…have not been more than 46 games under .500 since finishing the 1979 season 54 under at 54-108…have the lowest winning percentage in the majors behind the Royals (27-68, .284)…the last two Major League teams to finish with a winning percentage under .290 are the 2003 Tigers (43-119, .265) and 1962 Mets (40-120, .250)…were swept by the Twins to open the homestand and have been swept 13 times, which matches the season total from last year…have one sweep this season…are 5-7- 1 over the last 13 series after going 1-16 over the first 17.

EIGHT-GAME LOSING STREAK: The A’s extended their losing streak to eight games yesterday, which matches their second longest losing streak of the season (June 14-22)…the longest is an 11-game losing streak from May 17-28… have a 7.54 ERA (57 er in 68.0 ip) during the current streak, including 9.00 (29 er in 29.0 ip) by the starters…are batting .218 (56-for-257) and have been outscored 57-24.

OFFENSE: The A’s were held to one hit last night, which marks the third time this year they have been limited to one hit or fewer…that matches the most such games in a season in Athletics history (1906, 1908, 1979, 2006, 2012)… are now batting .221 for the season, which is the lowest mark in the majors… have hit under .223 once in Athletics history and that was last year (.216)… were shut out for the 11th time last night, which is tied for second most in the majors…struck out a season-high 18 times last night, which fell one short of the Athletics record for strikeouts in a nine-inning game…have struck out 894 times for the season, which is third most in the majors…are on pace for 1,509 strikeouts, which would break the Athletics record of 1,491 set in 2017…rank last in the majors in slugging (.353), OPS (.652), runs scored (344) and extra base hits (228), second in fewest doubles (126), fourth in lowest on-base percentage (.299) and sixth in fewest home runs (88)…also rank tied for second in sacrifice hits (18) and third in hit by pitches (53).

PITCHING: The A’s have the highest ERA (6.08) and opponents on-base percentage (.361) in the majors and the second highest opponents OPS (.830), batting average (.274) and slugging percentage (.469)…lead the majors in most walks (417) and hit batters (62), rank second in most home runs (135), tied for second in most wild pitches (43) and eighth in fewest strikeouts (765).

STARTING PITCHING: A’s starting pitchers 0-5 with a 6.75 ERA (37 er in 49.1 ip) in July and are 8-45 with a 6.37 ERA for the season…no other team has fewer than 15 wins and the fewest wins from starting pitchers in Major League history is 21 by the Pirates last year…have the second highest ERA to the Rockies (6.44) and are tied for the second most losses…have tossed 7.1 innings or fewer in each game and have the second fewest innings pitched (439.1).

THE BULLPEN: The A’s bullpen is 0-4 with two blown saves and a 6.91 ERA (22 er in 28.2 ip) over the last six games and is now 17-26 with a 5.77 ERA for the season…has the highest ERA in the majors and the most losses and innings pitched (405.2)…has converted 14-of-31 (45.2%) save opportunities, which is the lowest percentage…has the third fewest saves and is tied for the seventh most blown saves (17)…has allowed 72-of-183 (39.3%) inherited runners to score, which is the third highest percentage…has the second most inherited runners.

ON THE BASES: The A’s are 5-for-5 in stolen base attempts since the All-Star Break and 17-for-18 (94.4%) over the last 14 games…are 96-for-115 (83.5%) for the season…rank third in the majors in stolen bases and attempts and sixth in percentage…the stolen bases are the most by an A’s team since 2012 (122)…A’s opponents are 70-for-102 (68.6%) in stolen base attempts, which is the second lowest success rate in the majors…the 32 caught stealings are eight more than any other team…A’s pitchers have 11 pickoffs, which is third most.
