BALTIMORE ORIOLES NOTES:
NIFTY FIFTY: The O’s defeated the Yankees last night, 6-3, to clinch their 50th win of the season…Did not earn their 50th win last year until their 99th game on July 28…Entering today’s games, the O’s were one of six teams with at least 50 wins, along with the Braves (58-28), Rays (57-32), Rangers (51-36), Marlins (51-37), and Diamondbacks (50-37).
Dean Kremer struck out a career-high 10 batters over a season-high-tying 7.0 innings (also: 6/24 vs. SEA), allowing two runs (1 ER) on four hits (1 HR) with one walk to earn his career-best ninth win of the year.
Ryan O’Hearn launched his seventh homer of the year, a two-run blast in the ninth inning to extend Baltimore’s lead to 6-3.
Cedric Mullins went 2-for-5 with two doubles and a run scored; marked his first extra-base hits since being reinstated from the Injured List on June 24.
Jordan Westburg gave the O’s a 3-2 lead with a two-run triple in the sixth inning, his first career three-bagger and first multi-RBI game.
Félix Bautista recorded his 23rd save of the year and his fourth of four outs, allowing one walk with two strikeouts.
Colton Cowser went 1-for-3 with a run scored, an RBI, and a walk in his MLB debut.
DEAN’S LIST: Last night, Dean Kremer became the third O’s hurler to fan 10+ batters in a game this season, joining Kyle Gibson (11, 4/22 vs. DET) and Kyle Bradish (10, 6/8 at MIL)… Kremer is one of five O’s pitchers to record a double-digit strikeout game since 2019, along with Bradish (3x), John Means (2x), Gibson (1x), and Asher Wojciechowski (1x)…He recorded a career-high 18 whiffs, tied for the most by an Oriole this year.
Kremer’s nine wins lead the O’s and rank tied for third in the AL and tied for seventh in MLB.
GETTING OUT IN A HURRY: Ryan O’Hearn’s home run last night had a hang time of 3.50 seconds, the shortest hang time on an O’s homer this year and 10th-shortest on a home run in MLB, per Statcast…In the Statcast era (since 2015), only two out-of-the-park homers by O’s batters have had a shorter hang time: Ryan Mountcastle on June 19, 2021 vs. Toronto (3.47 seconds) and Rougned Odor on May 24, 2022 vs. New York-AL (3.48 seconds)…O’Hearn’s homer had a maximum height of 51 feet, the second-lowest on an O’s homer this year behind Adam Frazier on April 30 at Detroit (47 feet).
