MILWAUKEE – The Milwaukee Brewers have selected Andrew Fischer, an infielder from the University of Tennessee, with the 20th overall pick in the first round of the 2025 Major League Baseball First-Year Player Draft. The announcement was made by Vice President of Amateur Acquisition Tod Johnson.

Fischer, 21, put together a dominant junior season with the Volunteers in 2025, batting .341 with a .497 on-base percentage and a .760 slugging percentage. He led the Southeastern Conference (SEC) in home runs with 25 and reached base in all 65 games played. He ranked second in the conference in slugging, OBP, and OPS (1.257), and finished among the top 10 in runs (70) and RBI (65).

The left-handed hitter was recognized as a First Team All-American by Baseball America, D1 Baseball, and the American Baseball Coaches Association, and earned All-SEC First Team honors.

Fischer began his collegiate career at Duke University, where he set the program’s freshman record for home runs (11) while posting a .289/.404/.595 line in 47 games. He transferred to the University of Mississippi for his sophomore season, leading the Rebels in home runs (20), hits (59), RBI (57), and total bases (133). His .285/.397/.643 performance earned him Second Team All-SEC honors.

At Tennessee in 2025, Fischer’s 25 home runs marked the second-highest single-season total in school history, trailing only Christian Moore’s record 34-homer campaign in 2024.

Milwaukee holds four more selections to close out the first day of the Draft: Nos. 32 (compensation), 59 (second round), 68 (supplemental), and 94 (third round). The Draft resumes tomorrow at 10:30 a.m. CT with rounds 4–20, streaming exclusively on MLB.com.
