The Michigan Gaming Control Board (MGCB) has taken decisive action against 13 offshore gambling websites found to be unlawfully targeting Michigan residents. These websites—Captain Jack Casino, Casino Brango, Ducky Luck Casino, El Royale Casino, Jazz Casino, Jazz Sports Casino Racebook, Looselines, Planet 7 Casino, Red Dog Casino, Royal Oak Casino, Silver Oak Casino, Skybook, and Slots of Vegas—were operating without state licensing and in violation of Michigan law.
The operators, based in jurisdictions such as Curaçao, Costa Rica, and the Autonomous Island of Anjouan, have received cease-and-desist orders from the MGCB. This move is part of ongoing efforts to safeguard Michigan residents from unregulated gambling practices and uphold the integrity of the state’s gaming industry.
Protecting Residents from Illegal Gambling
“These websites pose significant risks to Michigan residents, including financial exploitation and deceptive practices,” stated Henry Williams, Executive Director of the MGCB. “Our priority is to ensure a secure and regulated gaming environment. These illegal operators not only break Michigan laws but also engage in unethical practices, such as withholding winnings and enforcing unreasonable wagering requirements, jeopardizing consumers.”
In addition to financial risks, these offshore websites fail to meet Michigan’s standards for responsible gaming, data security, and consumer protection, exposing users to potential fraud and identity theft.
Firm Warning to Offshore Operators
The MGCB has made clear its stance against illegal operators by issuing cease-and-desist letters requiring them to halt all activities within 14 days. Non-compliance will prompt further legal action in collaboration with the Michigan Attorney General’s Office.
Guidance for Michigan Residents
Michigan residents are strongly encouraged to gamble only on platforms authorized and licensed by the state. The MGCB’s official website features a list of approved operators for easy reference. Suspicious activities or illegal gambling websites can be reported by contacting the MGCB hotline at 1-888-314-2682 or emailing MIGamblingTip@michigan.gov.
Commitment to Safe Gaming
The MGCB remains steadfast in preserving the integrity of Michigan’s gaming industry. By closely monitoring the online gambling landscape, the board ensures compliance with state regulations and promotes transparency and consumer safety.
“These actions reflect our commitment to providing a trustworthy gaming environment for Michigan residents,” added Williams. “We will continue to enforce measures that protect players and uphold the highest standards in the industry.”
