FLUSHING, N.Y., – The New York Mets today announced the team has claimed RHP Sam Coonrod off waivers from the Philadelphia Phillies and designated outfielder Khalil Lee for assignment.
Coonrod, 30, is 7-5 with five saves, a 5.27 ERA (57 earned runs/97.1 innings) and 95 strikeouts in 105 combined major league games between the San Francisco Giants (2019-2020) and Phillies (2021-2022).
The 6-1, 225-pounder appeared in 12 games for Philadelphia last season. He was 2-2 with two saves and a 4.04 ERA (19 earned runs/42.1 innings) in 42 games for the Phillies in 2021.
