Lightning sign D Philippe Myers to One-year Contract extension

TAMPA BAY – The Tampa Bay Lightning have signed defenseman Philippe Myers to a one-year contract extension worth $1.4 million, vice president and general manager Julien BriseBois announced.

Myers, 25, played in 27 games for the Nashville Predators during the 2021-22 regular season, notching a goal, four points and a plus-five rating. The right-shot defenseman has skated in 142 career NHL games over four seasons, spending three years in Philadelphia before being traded to the Predators last offseason. Myers, 6-foot-5, 210 pounds, has career marks of seven goals, 33 points and 66 penalty minutes and had his best year statistically with the Flyers in 2019-20 when he posted four goals, 16 points and a plus-17 rating through 50 games.

The Moncton, New Brunswick native has played in 125 career American Hockey League games with the Lehigh Valley Phantoms and Toronto Marlies, recording 16 goals and 65 points with a plus-26 rating. He also helped Team Canada to the Silver Medal at the 2017 IIHF World Junior Championships.

Myers was acquired by the Lightning, along with forward Grant Mishmash, from Nashville in exchange for defenseman Ryan McDonagh on July 3, 2022.
