Kansas City Royals Select Three Players to 40-Man Roster

Kansas City, Mo. – The Kansas City Royals announced today that they have selected left-handed pitcher Noah Cameron and right-handed pitchers Luinder Avila and Eric Cerantola to their Major League Reserve List, which is now at 37 players.

Noah Cameron: Cameron, 25, split the 2024 season between Double-A Northwest Arkansas and Triple-A Omaha. He posted a combined 7-6 record with a 3.08 ERA across 128.2 innings, striking out 149 batters. He led all Royals minor leaguers in strikeouts and had the third-lowest ERA. In August, he was named the International League Pitcher of the Month after going 2-1 with a 1.71 ERA and 36 strikeouts in his first full month with Omaha. Over his three seasons with the Royals organization, Cameron has a 3.97 ERA and 380 strikeouts in 301.2 innings. He was selected in the seventh round of the 2021 MLB Draft from the University of Central Arkansas and hails from St. Joseph, Missouri.

Luinder Avila: Avila, 23, has spent his entire professional career with the Royals, reaching Triple-A Omaha in 2024. Last season, he made 20 starts, primarily with Double-A Northwest Arkansas, and posted a 4.14 ERA with 85 strikeouts in 87 innings. Earlier this month, he was named an Arizona Fall League Fall Star after allowing five earned runs in 14.2 innings with 17 strikeouts. Avila has a career 4.48 ERA across 103 games since signing as an international free agent in 2018. He was signed by scouts José Figuera and Joelvis Gonzalez.

Eric Cerantola: Cerantola, 24, has also spent his entire professional career with the Royals. In 2024, he pitched in 37 games (seven starts) between Double-A Northwest Arkansas and Triple-A Omaha, posting a 2.97 ERA with 101 strikeouts in 72.2 innings. Cerantola was one of six minor leaguers to strike out at least 100 batters in fewer than 75 innings last year. He was selected by the Royals in the fifth round of the 2021 MLB Draft from Mississippi State University and was signed by scout Cody Clark.

Following these transactions, the Royals’ Major League Reserve List now includes 37 players.
