NEED TO KNOW:

  • MF Emily Curran has re-signed with the Dash through the 2023 season, with option for 2024
  • Curran made five starts in 17 appearances during the 2022 regular season for Houston
  • Curran returned to the pitch in 2022 after suffering a season-ending injury during the 2021 season

HOUSTON – The Houston Dash and midfielder Emily Curran (formerly Ogle) have agreed to a new contract through the 2023 season with an option for 2024, the team announced today.

“We are thrilled to have Emily return to Houston,” Dash general manager Alex Singer said. “Emily came back from a very difficult injury last season and proved to be a valuable member of our midfield as we pushed to a playoff spot. I am excited to see her continue her development these next few years.”

Curran made 17 appearances and five starts in her return to action after she recovered from a season ending injury suffered in August 2021. The Strongsville, Ohio native picked up where she left off and played a key role in solidifying the midfield. During her 17 appearances, Curran had six key passes and had a 76 percent passing completion rate, one of the highest on the team.

Curran joined the Dash before the 2021 regular season after being acquired in a trade with Portland Thorns FC. The midfielder played collegiately at Penn State University where she made 100 appearances and scored 20 goals for the Nittany Lions.

“Houston has become home. I’ve been here for two years now, the team, the girls, and the staff, they’re all family,” Curran said. “The biggest thing for me is where the club is moving. You can tell they’re trying to become one of the top destinations, one of the top clubs in the world. I’m excited to be a part of an organization that is willing to work for us, be there for us and support us.”
