HAMILTON — The Hamilton Tiger-Cats announced on Wednesday that they have added two new players to their offense: National receiver Keaton Bruggeling and American running back Chris Smith. Bruggeling became a free agent on February 11.

Keaton Bruggeling (26 years old):
- Height/Weight: 6’3″, 205 lbs
- CFL Experience: Bruggeling has played 31 games over three seasons in the CFL with the Ottawa Redblacks (2022-24). He has registered eight receptions for 83 yards and one touchdown.
- 2024 Season: Played 13 games, recording two receptions for 23 yards.
- Background: Bruggeling, a native of St. Catharines, was originally selected by the Redblacks in the third round (22nd overall) of the 2022 CFL Draft. He also serves as a brakeman for Canada’s National Bobsleigh program during the off-season.
Chris Smith (24 years old):
- Height/Weight: 5’9″, 194 lbs
- CFL Experience: Last season with the Winnipeg Blue Bombers, Smith saw action in four games, registering 12 kickoff returns for 247 yards and 13 punt returns for 141 yards.
- Background: Smith, a native of Louisville, Mississippi, spent time in the NFL with the Seattle Seahawks (2023) and in the UFL with the San Antonio Brahmas (2024). He played his collegiate career at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette, where he earned all-Sun Belt honors as both a returner and a running back (2020, 21).
These signings bring added depth and talent to the Tiger-Cats’ offensive lineup as they prepare for the upcoming season.
