Edmonton Elks Sign American DL Brandon Barlow

EDMONTON — The Edmonton Elks announced on Tuesday that they have signed American defensive lineman Brandon Barlow. Barlow, who was released by the Hamilton Tiger-Cats on Saturday, will join the Elks for the upcoming season.

Standing at 6-foot-4 and weighing 260 pounds, the 27-year-old Barlow spent the 2024 season with the Hamilton Tiger-Cats. During his time with the Tabbies, Barlow played in all 18 games, recording a career-high 40 tackles, five sacks, and one forced fumble. He initially signed with Hamilton following an outstanding 2023 season with the Toronto Argonauts.

Barlow, a Boston College alumnus, was a formidable pass-rushing force in the CFL. In 2023, he finished tied for eighth in the league with nine sacks, while also registering 32 total tackles and two forced fumbles.

Throughout his Canadian Football League career, Barlow has accumulated 91 total tackles, 15 sacks, and three forced fumbles in 41 career games. He is also a Grey Cup champion, having secured a victory in the 109th Grey Cup as a member of the Argos.

Before his CFL career, the Cohoes, New York native played five seasons for the Boston College Eagles. In 48 games with the Eagles, Barlow contributed 128 total tackles, 18 tackles-for-loss, 5.5 sacks, and three forced fumbles.

In a corresponding roster move, the Elks have designated outfielder Alexander Canario for assignment to make room for Barlow on the 40-man roster. The 40-man roster now stands at 40 players.
