NEW YORK AND TORONTO – The Professional Women’s Hockey League (PWHL) has announced its ‘3 Stars of the Week’ presented by Shark Beauty Canada for games played from January 13-19. This week’s stars are Erin Ambrose of the Montréal Victoire, Abby Boreen of the Montréal Victoire, and Kendall Coyne Schofield of the Minnesota Frost.

FIRST STAR – ERIN AMBROSE, DEFENDER, MONTRÉAL VICTOIRE

Erin Ambrose assisted on five of the six goals the Victoire scored in their two games this week. In Friday’s 4-2 victory over Minnesota at Place Bell, Ambrose recorded three assists, doubling her season total and coming within one assist of her career-high. On Sunday, before a sell-out crowd of 18,259 at Videotron Centre in Québec City as part of the PWHL Takeover Tour™, Ambrose set up both goals in Montréal’s 2-1 win over Ottawa. Ambrose’s performance on the power play was instrumental, with the Victoire going 4-for-8 (50%) for the week. Her eight assists for the season tie her for second in the league, and she is also tied for the top ranking in the PWHL with a plus-7 rating.

SECOND STAR – ABBY BOREEN, FORWARD, MONTRÉAL VICTOIRE

Abby Boreen scored twice in Friday’s win over Minnesota, marking the first multiple-goal game of her PWHL career, and added an assist against Ottawa. Boreen opened the scoring against Minnesota and extended the lead to 4-1 in the third period. On Sunday, she had a secondary assist on the game-winning goal against Ottawa. Boreen is tied for the PWHL lead in goals with five and joins Ambrose in leading the first-place Victoire in scoring. The 24-year-old has surpassed her previous season’s totals with five goals and eight points.

THIRD STAR – KENDALL COYNE SCHOFIELD, FORWARD, MINNESOTA FROST

Kendall Coyne Schofield contributed to three of Minnesota’s four goals across two games last week. She had a goal and an assist in Wednesday’s 3-2 shootout loss to the New York Sirens and scored in Minnesota’s 4-2 loss to Montréal. Coyne Schofield leads the league in shots on goal and is in a three-way tie for the PWHL scoring lead with 11 points. She also has five goals this season, tied for the league lead.
