Dodgers select Yonny Hernández

LOS ANGELES – The Los Angeles Dodgers activated infielder Yonny Hernández and placed infielder Miguel Rojas on the injured list with a left hamstring strain.

Hernández, 24, appeared in 12 games for the Diamondbacks last year, recording two hits in 24 at-bats. He has been in the Majors parts of two seasons with Texas (2021) and Arizona (2022), batting a combined .198 (33-for-167) with five doubles and six RBI, while playing three different positions and recording a .977 fielding percentage. The Venezuelan native was hitting .308 (4-for-13) with two RBI in four games with Triple-A Oklahoma City. During Spring Training, he appeared in 18 games, batting .273 (9-for-33) with three doubles, one triple and two RBI. He was acquired via trade from the Oakland Athletics on December 15, 2022 for cash considerations.

Rojas, 34, played in 11 games for the Dodgers this season, hitting .125 (4-for-32) with one double and three walks. He is in his 10th Major League season, and he is a .259 (738-for-2851) career hitter with 140 doubles, 39 homers and 269 RBI. He was acquired on January 11, 2023 from the Miami Marlins in exchange for infielder Jacob Amaya.
