Dodgers reinstate Craig Kimbrel

LOS ANGELES – The Los Angeles Dodgers reinstated right-handed pitcher Craig Kimbrel from the paternity list and optioned right-handed pitcher Mitch White.

Kimbrel, 34, missed three games on paternity leave and he is 0-2 with 4.00 ERA (8 ER/18.0 IP) and 25 strikeouts, converting 11 of his 12 save opportunities on the season. On May 16 against the Diamondbacks, he passed reliever Joe Nathan for eighth all-time on the Major League saves list when he converted the 378th save of his career. In 13 Major League seasons, he is a combined 35-31 with a 2.23 ERA (160 ER/646.1 IP) and 1,051 strikeouts, while converting 383 save chances. He is the active leader in saves and is 17 saves shy of becoming the seventh player in Major League history to record 400 career saves.

White, 27, tossed 5.0 scoreless innings on Tuesday against the White Sox, improving his ERA to 3.86 on the season as he has appeared in nine games (four starts) for the Dodgers. In those contests, he is 1-1, allowing 11 runs over 25.2 innings with 27 strikeouts. The Northern California native has been with the Dodgers three seasons and he is a combined 3-4 with a 3.58 ERA (30 ER/75.1 IP) and 78 strikeouts. He was drafted by Los Angeles in the second round of the 2016 First Year Player Draft out of Santa Clara University.
