Margot brings a wealth of experience to Detroit, boasting a career batting average of .254 (742-for-2,927) with 150 doubles, 56 home runs, 96 stolen bases, and 314 RBIs over parts of nine major league seasons. He has previously played for the San Diego Padres (2016-2019), Tampa Bay Rays (2020-2023), and Minnesota Twins (2024). Margot most recently attended major league spring training with the Milwaukee Brewers before being granted his release on Saturday.

A versatile defender, Margot has logged significant playing time across all three outfield positions, with 542 career games in center field, 242 in right field, and 115 in left field. The 30-year-old right-handed hitter debuted in the majors with the Padres in 2016, where he played for four seasons. Margot’s move to the Rays in 2020 marked the beginning of four consecutive playoff appearances, cementing his reputation as a reliable postseason contributor. In 2024, Margot spent his lone season with the Twins, appearing in 129 games and batting .238 (75-for-315) with 17 doubles, four home runs, and 31 RBIs while continuing to showcase his defensive versatility.

Originally from San Cristobal, Dominican Republic, Margot began his professional baseball journey in 2011 when he was signed by the Boston Red Sox. The Tigers are excited to add his experience, defensive skills, and versatility to their roster as they gear up for the 2025 season.
