Detroit’s three casinos collectively generated $114.0 million in total revenue for May 2025. Of this amount, table games and slot machines accounted for $112.7 million, while retail sports betting contributed $1.3 million.

Table Games, Slot Revenue, and Tax Contributions

Revenue from table games and slot machines at Detroit casinos rose 1.2% year-over-year compared to May 2024. It also reflected a 3.0% increase from April 2025. However, total revenue for January through May 2025 showed a 0.2% decline compared to the same five-month period in 2024.

  • MGM Grand Detroit: Up 2.4%, totaling $53.1 million
  • MotorCity Casino: Up 0.6%, totaling $33.9 million
  • Hollywood Casino at Greektown: Down 0.2%, totaling $25.7 million

In May, the casinos collectively paid $9.1 million in state gaming taxes, slightly exceeding the $9.0 million paid in May 2024. Additionally, $13.4 million in wagering taxes and development agreement payments were submitted to the City of Detroit during the month.

Retail Sports Betting Revenue & Tax Contributions

Detroit’s three casinos reported a $9.2 million sports betting handle for May 2025, generating $1.3 million in gross receipts. While qualified adjusted gross receipts (QAGR) declined by 31.1% compared to May 2024, they saw a month-over-month increase of $964,701 from April 2025.
