HOUSTON – Houston Dash forward Paulina Gramaglia has been called up by the Argentina Women’s National Team for the Under-20 CONMEBOL Women’s Championship, the federation announced.
Gramaglia, who turned 19 last week, will join the U-20 Argentinian Women’s National Team this week. The forward will then travel to Chile for the South American U-20 Women’s Championship from April 6 through April 24 at Estadio Municipal Nicolás Chahuán Nazar in La Calera, Chile.
Argentina was placed in Group A with Peru, Chile, Colombia and Venezuela. Argentina will play each team once and needs to finish in the top two spots to advance to the knockout stage. Gramaglia and Argentina will kick off group play against the host nation on April 6 at 3 p.m. CT. Two days later Argentina will face Colombia at 3 p.m. CT. The Argentinian U-20 cohort will wrap up the last two matches of group play against Peru on April 10 at 7:30 p.m. CT and Venezuela on April 14 at 3:00 p.m. CT.
Gramaglia’s international career catapulted her to the NWSL after stellar performances at the international level. She was named the captain of Argentina’s U-17 team in 2019 for a tournament against Paraguay, Uruguay and Chile. Gramaglia was also tapped to captain the team in the 2020 South American U-17 Women’s Championship, but the tournament was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The Cordoba, Argentina native made her debut with the senior team last November in a friendly against Ecuador.
Her individual honors include being named to Goal.com’s NXGN 2022 top 20 list of up-and-coming women’s players in the world.
