Claimed RHP Sean Poppen (@SPoppen71) off waivers from the Tampa Bay Rays. Career stats
Designated for assignment by the Rays on July 30…began the season in the Pittsburgh Pirates’ organization before being traded to Tampa Bay for cash considerations on May 18.
Appeared in 4 games with the Pirates (3 G) and Rays (1 G) this season and posted a 6.75 ERA (4 ER in 5.1 IP).
In 21 combined games with Triple-A Indianapolis (Pirates) and Triple-A Durham (Rays) in 2021, was 3-3 with 2 saves, a 1.95 ERA (7 ER in 32.1 IP) and a .228 opponent average.
Spent the majority of the 2020 season at the Minnesota Twins’ Alternate Training Site…pitched in 6 games with the Twins (4.70 ERA; 4 ER in 7.2 IP).
Selected by the Twins in the 19th round of the 2016 draft out of Harvard University.
