CHICAGO – The Chicago Cubs today placed left-handed pitcher on the 15-day injured list with a left shoulder strain and recalled right-handed pitcher Michael Rucker from Triple-A Iowa.
Rucker, 28, is 0-1 with a 5.40 ERA (10 ER/16.2 IP) in 11 relief appearances for the Cubs this season. He has walked seven and struck out 18, good for an average of 9.72 strikeouts per 9.0 innings. On May 8 vs. the Dodgers, he matched his career high by tossing 3.0 innings.
Selected by Chicago in the 11th round of the 2016 draft out of Brigham Young University, Rucker made his major league debut with the Cubs last season and is 0-1 with a save and a 6.40 ERA (32 ER/45.0 IP) in 31 career relief appearances. Rucker is 20-14 with three saves and a 3.42 ERA (141 ER/371.1 IP) in 116 career minor league games (42 starts).
Miley, 35, is 1-0 with a 2.84 ERA (6 ER/19.0 IP) in four starts with the Cubs this season.
