CHICAGO – Edwin Ros, an infielder for the Chicago Cubs, has signed a one-year major league contract with the team. The deal’s terms were not made public. Ethan Roberts, a right-handed pitcher, has been placed on the 60-day injured list in a similar move as he continues to recover from Tommy John surgery.

Before being placed on the 10-day injured list on June 3 due to a right hamstring strain, Ros started the season for the Dodgers and batted.244 (21-for-86) with a double, seven home runs, and 17 RBI in 27 games. In 108 games played between Single-A Great Lakes, High-A Rancho Cucamonga, and Double-A Tulsa, he hit.301 with 26 doubles, 27 home runs, and 76 RBI, earning him the 2016 Dodgers Branch Rickey Minor League Player of the Year award.
The Dodgers selected the Florida International University product, who measured six feet, three inches, in the sixth round of the 2016 First-Year Player Draft.
Before going on the 10-day injured list on April 30 with right shoulder inflammation, Roberts, 25, made the Cubs Opening Day roster in 2022 and pitched in nine games with an 8.22 earned run average (7 earned runs/7.2 innings). He had Tommy John surgery on July 13 after being pulled from his outing on June 19 while on rehab assignment with Triple-A Iowa.
