Goalkeeper departs after second stint with Black & Gold
COLUMBUS – Columbus Crew today announced that the Club has waived goalkeeper Matt Lampson.
“We want to thank Matt for his contributions to the Club and the greater Columbus community, and wish him all the best moving forward,” said Columbus Crew President and General Manager Tim Bezbatchenko.
A Crew Academy product, Lampson re-signed with the Crew as a Free Agent prior to the start of the 2020 season. The 31-year-old previously represented the Crew from 2012-2015 before joining Chicago Fire FC for the 2016 and 2017 seasons. Lampson also played for Minnesota United FC (2018) and the LA Galaxy (2019). Although Lampson did not appear in any matches during his second stint with the Club, the Hilliard, Ohio, native was part of the Crew’s 2020 MLS Cup Championship run.
