CHICAGO – The Chicago White Sox have signed veteran left-handed pitcher Martín Pérez to a one-year, $5.0-million contract, with a mutual option for the 2026 season. As part of the agreement, Pérez will receive $3.5 million in 2025, with a $10-million mutual option for 2026 or a $1.5-million buyout. In a corresponding move, the White Sox have designated right-handed pitcher Ron Marinaccio for assignment to make room on the 40-man roster.

Martín Pérez’s 2024 Season: Pérez, 33, posted a 5-6 record with a 4.53 ERA (68 ER/135.0 IP) and 107 strikeouts over 26 games split between Pittsburgh and San Diego. After starting the season with the Pirates, Pérez was traded to the Padres on July 30 for left-hander Ronaldys Jiménez. Following the trade, Pérez achieved a 3-1 record with a 3.46 ERA (20 ER/52.0 IP) and 44 strikeouts in 10 starts with San Diego.

Career Highlights: The 6-foot, 200-pound native of Guanare, Venezuela has amassed a 90-87 record with a 4.44 ERA (778 ER/1,575.2 IP) and 1,109 strikeouts in 314 games (269 starts) over his 13-season MLB career, which has included stints with Texas (2012-18, 2022-23), Minnesota (2019), Boston (2020-21), Pittsburgh (2024), and San Diego (2024). Pérez was an American League All-Star in 2022 and a World Series champion with Texas in 2023. Among active left-handed pitchers, he ranks sixth in starts, seventh in innings pitched, and tied for seventh in victories.

Ron Marinaccio’s 2024 Season: Marinaccio, 29, was claimed off waivers from the Yankees by the White Sox on September 23, 2024. In 16 relief appearances with New York, Marinaccio recorded a 1-0 record with a 3.86 ERA (10 ER/23.1 IP) and 25 strikeouts.

The White Sox 40-man roster remains at 40.
