CHICAGO – Prior to today’s doubleheader vs. Minnesota, the Chicago White Sox announced the following roster move:

  •  Appointed as 27th Player (1): LHP Jake Eder from Class AA Birmingham.

Eder, 25, is 2-5 with a 5.09 ERA (42 ER/74.1 IP) and 86 strikeouts (10.4 per 9.0 IP) over 15 starts with Birmingham this season. The 6-foot-4, 215-pound Eder ranks fifth in the Southern League in strikeouts, and ranks among White Sox organizational leaders in starts (1st) and strikeouts (3rd). He has no major-league experience and will wear uniform No. 46.

Eder currently is ranked 10th by MLB.com and 11th by Baseball America among the White Sox Top 30 prospects. He joins outfielder Duke Ellis, infielder Bryan Ramos and right-handed pitcher Drew Thorpe as players who have joined the club’s active roster directly from Birmingham this season. Eder was acquired on August 1, 2023, from the Miami Marlins in exchange for infielder Jake Burger.

Eder is 7-16 with a 4.27 ERA (96 ER/202.1 IP) and 255 strikeouts (11.3 per 9.0 IP) in 44 career starts over three minor-league seasons in the Miami (2021-23) and Chicago (2023-24) systems. He originally was selected by the Marlins in the fourth round of the 2020 First-Year Player Draft out of Vanderbilt University.
