QUICK HITS
TOP OF THE WORLD: 5 Pac-12 schools made the 2nd CFP rankings of the season, the 2nd most of any conference. The conference also has back-to-back rankings with 4 teams in the Top 15 for the first time since 2014.
OREGON remains the top Pac-12 team, moving up 2 spots to #6 as the 2nd highest ranked 1-loss team behind #5 Tennessee. USC moved one spot to #8, the Trojans’ highest ranking since they were 8th in the final 2017 poll. Despite scoring 50 points in their win over Arizona State, UCLA remained at #12 with UTAH one spot behind them at #13. WASHINGTON makes their return to the poll for the first time since 2020 after beating then #23 OREGON STATE on Friday.
BOWL BLITZ: The Pac-12 was the first conference to have 6 bowl eligible teams. Washington State can become the 7th bowl eligible team with 1 more win this season. Arizona, Arizona State, California and Stanford must win all 3 of their remaining games to become bowl eligible.
VIVA LAS VEGAS: The 2022 Pac-12 Football Championship Game, presented by 76, is headed to Allegiant Stadium on December 2nd. Watch the Pac-12’s best take Vegas as the top 2 teams meet and compete for the championship. Get your tickets now at Pac-12.com/tickets. 6 teams are still in contention for the FCG with Oregon able to punch their ticket if they win both of their next 2 games.
COMING UP ROSES: The Tournament of Roses announced the Rose Bowl Hall of Fame Class of 2022 this week with former USC QB Vince Evans one of the 4 inductees. Evans was the MVP of the 1977 Rose Bowl Game, leading the Trojans to a 14-6 win over Michigan. Joining Evans will be former Oregon head coach Hugh Bezdek, who led the Oregon Webfoots to a 14-0 victory over Pennsylvania in 1917, the first West Coast team to win the Rose Bowl. Bezdek is the only coach to bring 3 different schools to the Granddaddy of Them All. Former Michigan State RB Lorenzo White and former Rose Bowl Stadium CEO Darryl Dunn round out the class.
MAKING HISTORY: Oregon’s offense making some unique history last week. QB Bo Nix became the 12th Pac-12 player since 1996 to have at least one pass TD, rushing TD and receiving TD in the same game, the first since OSU’s Tristan Gebbia in 2020. Nix also became just the 2nd FBS player since 1996 to have 2+ pass TD, 2+ rush TD and a receiving TD in the same game (Bowling Green’s Josh Harris in 2001). Add in a touchdown reception by OL Josh Conerly Jr. and a rushing TD by LB Noah Sewell and Oregon became the first FBS team since at least 1996 to have receiving TD by an OL, a receiving TD by a QB and a rushing TD by a defensive player in the same season – not just the same game.
