  • Right-handed pitcher Lucas Giolito has been reinstated from the 15-Day Injured List.
  • Left-handed pitcher Brennan Bernardino has been placed on the Bereavement List.

Lucas Giolito

Giolito, 30, is set to make his Red Sox debut tonight, marking his first Major League appearance since October 1, 2023, with the Cleveland Guardians. The right-hander began the season on the Injured List due to a left hamstring strain and completed five rehab starts between Triple-A Worcester (three starts) and Double-A Portland (two starts). Over 17.1 innings, he allowed 10 runs and struck out 17 batters.

Signed as a free agent on January 3, 2024, Giolito missed the entire 2024 season recovering from right elbow ulnar collateral ligament surgery performed on March 12, 2024. A 2019 American League All-Star, he has a career 4.43 ERA (499 ER/1,013.2 IP) across 180 Major League games (178 starts) with the Nationals (2016), White Sox (2017-23), Angels (2023), and Guardians (2023). The California native was originally drafted by the Nationals in the first round (16th overall) of the 2012 MLB Draft.

Brennan Bernardino

Bernardino, 33, has been a reliable bullpen arm for Boston this season, posting a 2.45 ERA (3 ER/11.0 IP) across 11 appearances. In his most recent outing, he delivered a scoreless, hitless ninth inning with two strikeouts against Toronto. Originally drafted by the Cincinnati Reds in the 26th round of the 2014 MLB Draft, the California native has a career 3.52 ERA (45 ER/115.0 IP) in 125 Major League games (nine starts) with the Mariners (2022) and Red Sox (2023-25).
