Boston Red Sox recall LHP Brennan Bernardino; option Jovani Morán to Triple-A Worcester

BOSTON, MA – The Boston Red Sox have made a roster move ahead of their next series, recalling left-handed pitcher Brennan Bernardino from Triple-A Worcester. In a corresponding transaction, fellow left-hander Jovani Morán has been optioned to Worcester following Monday night’s game against the Baltimore Orioles.

Bernardino, 33, has been a reliable bullpen arm for Boston this season, appearing in 47 games (1 start) with a 3.09 ERA across 43.2 innings, striking out 36. He’s also logged four outings with Worcester, allowing just one run over 4.0 innings while striking out eight. A California native, Bernardino was originally drafted by the Cincinnati Reds in the 26th round of the 2014 MLB Draft and owns a 3.47 career ERA over 161 Major League appearances with Seattle (2022) and Boston (2023–25).

Morán, 28, has pitched in two games for Boston this season, surrendering three runs over 4.0 innings. In Worcester, he’s posted a 3.44 ERA in 12 appearances (one start), striking out 18 across 18.1 innings. The Puerto Rico native was selected by the Minnesota Twins in the 7th round of the 2015 Draft, and holds a 4.26 career ERA over 81 MLB games with Minnesota (2021–23) and Boston (2025).
