BOSTON, MA – The Boston Red Sox have reinstated infielder/outfielder Romy Gonzalez from the 10-Day Injured List, the club announced today. In a corresponding move, Nate Eaton has been optioned to Triple-A Worcester.

Gonzalez, 28, recently completed a two-game rehab stint with Worcester, appearing once at first base and once as the designated hitter. Before landing on the injured list, the right-handed hitter had an impressive start to the 2025 season, slashing .308 (16-for-52) with six doubles across 17 games. He has made 10 starts at first base, along with one appearance at both second and third base.

Originally drafted by the Chicago White Sox in the 18th round of the 2018 First-Year Player Draft, Gonzalez has played 192 career Major League games, batting .249 (120-for-481) with 27 doubles, four triples, 11 home runs, 62 RBI, and 21 stolen bases for both Chicago (2021-23) and Boston (2024-25).

Eaton, 28, heads back to Worcester after 53 games with the club, where he has hit .277 (54-for-195) with 16 doubles, one triple, and five home runs, posting an .810 OPS. Defensively, the versatile infielder/outfielder has started at third base (20 games), center field (18), right field (10), designated hitter (2), and one game each at second base, shortstop, and left field.

A 21st-round pick in 2018 by the Kansas City Royals, the Virginia native has logged 72 career Major League games (2022-23), batting .201 (32-for-159) with one home run and 13 RBI.
