WINNIPEG, MB., – The Winnipeg Blue Bombers today announce the signing of American placekicker Chandler Staton.
Staton (5-11, 195; Appalachian State; born: in Gainesville, GA) comes to Winnipeg after a collegiate career with the Mountaineers (2017-21) that earned him a look from the Green Bay Packers last year as an undrafted free agent.
Staton connected on 64 of 81 field goals (79 %) during his days at Appalachian State, with a career best of 53 yards, and left as the school’s career leader in points (464), field goals (64), and field goal percentage.
He also set a school record by converting on 20 of 21 field goal attempts in his final season while being named a First-team All-Sun Belt Conference, a Pro Football Network First-Team All-American and a semi-finalist for the Groza Award as the nation’s top kicker
