Urías, a 27-year-old infielder, has a career batting average of .232 across parts of seven Major League seasons with the San Diego Padres (2018-19), Milwaukee Brewers (2020-23), Boston Red Sox (2023), and Seattle Mariners (2024). In 2024, he played 41 games with the Mariners, posting a .191 batting average and a .303 on-base percentage. Additionally, he hit .260 with 10 home runs, 56 RBI, and a .378 on-base percentage in 77 games with Triple-A Tacoma. Originally signed by the Padres in 2013, Urías made his Major League debut on August 28, 2018. Throughout his career, he has played primarily at second base, shortstop, and third base, although he has not played shortstop in the majors since 2022.

Medina began the 2024 season on the injured list with a knee injury. He made eight starts, going 2-4 with a 5.17 ERA and a .772 opponents’ OPS before being sidelined with an elbow injury on July 13, which led to Tommy John surgery on August 7.

With these roster moves, the Athletics’ 40-man roster remains at full capacity.
