Houston selected nine position players and one pitcher on day three
HOUSTON, TX – The Houston Astros selected 21 players in the three-day 2022 Major League Baseball First-Year Player Draft. Houston selected seven right-handed pitchers, five outfielders, four shortstops, three catchers, one first baseman and one left-handed pitcher. Of the 21 total selections, 19 came of out the collegiate ranks and two from high school.
The Astros picked two high school players in this year’s draft: OF Ryan Clifford from Crossroad Flex HS in the 11th round and OF Isaiah Jackson from Cienega HS in the 18th round.
The deadline for teams to sign their draft picks is Aug. 1.
