OAKLAND, Calif. – The Oakland A’s reinstated shortstop Elvis Andrus from the paternity list and optioned infielder Vimael Machín to Triple-A Las Vegas, the club announced today.
Andrus was batting .231 with three home runs and 28 RBI in 113 games when he was placed on the paternity list on Saturday. He has started a team-leading 109 games at shortstop and is the active leader in stolen bases (315).
Machín was recalled on Saturday when Andrus went on the PL and started all three games at shortstop, going 2-for-7 (.286) with a walk. He is batting .107 in 13 games over three stints with the A’s this year and has a .304 average with nine home runs and 48 RBI in 65 games with Las Vegas.
