OAKLAND, Calif. — The Oakland A’s reinstated outfielder Lawrence Butler from the bereavement list and optioned infielder Jonah Bride to Triple-A Las Vegas, the club announced today.
Butler was placed on the bereavement list Tuesday after batting .246 with four home runs and nine RBI in 23 games in his Major League debut following his recall from Las Vegas on Aug. 11. He had his first career two-homer game Monday against the Blue Jays and drove in a career-high three runs.
Bride was recalled from Las Vegas on Aug. 3 for his third stint with the A’s this year and went 5-for-35 (.143) with three RBI in 18 games. He is hitting .170 with seven RBI and a .490 OPS in 40 games overall with Oakland and is also batting .311 with 12 home runs, 46 RBI and a 1.019 OPS in 63 games with the Aviators.
