A’s reinstate LHP Richard Lovelady from IL; option LHP Kyle Muller to Las Vegas

OAKLAND, Calif. — The Oakland A’s reinstated left-handed pitcher Richard Lovelady from the 15-day injured list and optioned left-handed pitcher Kyle Muller to Triple-A Las Vegas, the club announced today.

Lovelady was placed on the 15-day injured list on June 16 with a strained left elbow. He made one rehab appearance with the Stockton Ports on June 30, allowing one run in 1.0 inning. Prior to the injury, he was 0-3 with a 3.86 ERA and .602 opponents OPS in 24 relief appearances with the A’s. He allowed just 2-of-13 (15.4%) inherited runners to score and first batters faced were 3-for-20 with two walks and a hit by pitch. 

Muller was recalled from Las Vegas and made a start for the A’s yesterday, allowing three runs on six hits and four walks while striking out four over 5.1 innings. He began the season as the A’s Opening Day starter and went 1-4 with an 8.04 ERA in 10 starts before he was optioned to Las Vegas on May 23.
