OAKLAND, Calif. – The Oakland A’s reinstated infielder/outfielder Chad Pinder from the 10-day injured list and optioned outfielder Seth Brown to Triple-A Las Vegas, the club announced today.
Pinder was placed on the injured list on July 8 with a strained hamstring and missed 34 games. He was sent to Las Vegas on a rehab assignment on Sunday and went 4-for-16 (.250) with a double, home run and seven RBI in four games. The IL stint was his second of the season as he missed 35 games from April 5-May 13 with a sprained left knee. Pinder is batting .216 with three home runs and 13 RBI in 46 games with the A’s and has started games at six different positions (15 in left field, seven in right field, five at second base, four at shortstop, three at third base, one at designated hitter).
Brown was recalled from Las Vegas on Aug. 6 for his second stint with the A’s this year and went 8-for-33 (.242) with four home runs and seven RBI in 12 games. He is hitting .205 with 16 home runs and 37 RBI in 91 games overall with Oakland. Brown made 56 of his 57 starts in games in which the opponent started a right-handed pitcher and was 4-for-19 (.211) with a double, home run and four RBI as a pinch hitter.
