OAKLAND, Calif. — The Oakland A’s recalled right-handed pitcher Zach Neal from Triple-A Las Vegas and optioned left-handed pitcher Easton Lucas to Las Vegas, the club announced today.
Neal joins the A’s for the third time this year and is 1-1 with a 7.66 ERA and 1.001 opponents OPS in 10 games, including two starts, over his first two stints. He has walked 12 and struck out 18 while yielding eight home runs in 22.1 innings. The 34-year-old right-hander made three appearances with the Aviators following his most recent option from Oakland on Sept. 6, allowing three runs on six hits and two walks in 7.2 innings. Neal is 4-2 with a save, a 5.21 ERA and .854 opponents OPS in 18 games, including 10 starts, overall with Las Vegas.
Lucas was selected from Las Vegas on Sept. 6 and posted an 8.10 ERA and .949 opponents OPS in six relief appearances in his Major League debut. He allowed six runs on 10 hits and four walks while striking out seven in 6.2 innings. The 26-year-old left-hander is a combined 1-0 with a 3.86 ERA and .823 OPS in 36 relief appearances with Double-A Bowie, Triple-A Norfolk and Las Vegas.
