OAKLAND, Calif. — The Oakland A’s recalled outfielder Lawrence Butler from Triple-A Las Vegas and placed infielder/outfielder Tony Kemp on the paternity list, the club announced today.
Butler, 23, is ranked as Oakland’s fifth best prospect and will be making his Major League debut. He made his Triple-A debut less than a month ago on July 14 and hit .280 with a .853 OPS to go along with five home runs and eight steals in 22 games. He made his Double-A debut to begin the season and hit .285 with an .817 OPS, 10 home runs, 13 steals, 30 walks, and 60 strikeouts in 67 games.
Kemp is hitting .268 with a .748 OPS since June 1, along with 10 steals and two of his three home runs. Overall this season, he is hitting .211 with a .602 OPS, three home runs, 12 steals, 32 walks, and just 30 strikeouts.
