OAKLAND, Calif. — The Oakland A’s recalled outfielder JJ Bleday from Triple-A Las Vegas and optioned outfielder Conner Capel to Las Vegas, the club announced today.
Bleday was batting .316 with seven home runs, 19 RBI and a 1.072 OPS in 25 games with Las Vegas. He ranks second in the Pacific Coast League in runs (28), fourth in extra base hits (16), sixth in OPS, tied for sixth in triples (2), eighth in slugging (.643), tied for eighth in home runs and walks (20), ninth in on-base percentage (.429) and 10th in hits (31). The 25-year-old left-handed hitter was acquired from Miami for A.J. Puk on Feb. 11, 2023. Bleday was the Marlins first round pick and the fourth selection overall in the 2019 First-Year Player draft and made his Major League debut with Miami last year.
Capel was on the A’s Opening Day roster and was batting .258 with four doubles, three RBI and four stolen bases in 26 games. He started 11 games in right field, seven in left field and one at designated hitter.
