OAKLAND, Calif. — The Oakland A’s have placed right-handed pitcher Austin Pruitt on the 15-day injured list retroactive to Aug. 17 with a strained right forearm and recalled right-handed pitcher Dany Jiménez from Triple-A Las Vegas, the club announced today.
Pruitt had not allowed a run in his last 12 outings and 17 of his last 19 appearances when he was placed on the IL. He was selected from Las Vegas on May 4 is 2-6 with a 2.98 ERA, 30 strikeouts and 12 walks in 38 appearances for Oakland, including five starts as an “opener” and one as the first pitcher of a bullpen game.
Jiménez has not allowed a run in 4.1 innings across four games since being optioned to Las Vegas on Aug. 8. He began the season on the A’s Opening Day roster but was placed on the injured list on April 17 with a strained right shoulder. In a five-game rehab assignment with Las Vegas, Jiménez allowed 10 runs over 4.1 innings before being reinstated on Aug. 4 and making one appearance for the A’s on Aug. 7. Overall this season with Oakland, he is 0-1 with a save and a 7.04 ERA in 7.2 innings of work.
