A’s Place INF J.D. Davis on IL; Recall OF Esteury Ruiz from Las Vegas

OAKLAND, Calif. — The Oakland A’s placed infielder J.D. Davis on the 10-day injured list with a right adductor strain and recalled outfielder Esteury Ruiz from Triple-A Las Vegas, the club announced today.

Davis was on the A’s Opening Day roster and was hitting .196 with two home runs and two RBI in 14 games before straining his right groin in the game yesterday against Washington. He started nine games at third base, four at first base and one at designated hitter.

Ruiz was on the A’s Opening Day roster and went 3-for-7 (.429) in three games before he was optioned to Las Vegas on April 1. He batted .326 with three home runs, eight RBI and seven stolen bases in 11 games with the Aviators. The 25-year-old right-handed hitter reached base safely in all 11 games at Triple-A and had a .423 on-base percentage and 1.004 OPS.
