OAKLAND, Calif. — The Oakland A’s placed infielder Aledmys Díaz on the 10-day injured list retroactive to April 30 with a strained left hamstring and recalled infielder Nick Allen from Triple-A Las Vegas, the club announced today.
Díaz was on the A’s Opening Day roster and was hitting .153 with a home run and six RBI in 25 games. He has started games at four different positions, including nine at third base, eight at shortstop, four at second base and two at designated hitter.
Allen was also on the A’s Opening Day roster and went 1-for-16 in eight games, including five starts (four at shortstop, one at second base), before he was optioned to Las Vegas April 14. He went 8-for-37 (.216) over his first nine games with the Aviators but was 12-for-22 (.545) with nine runs, six doubles, four RBI, four walks, three three-hit games and one two-hit game over his final five contests. Allen is batting .339 with a home run, six RBI, nine walks, 16 runs scored and a .960 OPS in 14 games overall at Triple-A, all starts at shortstop.
