OAKLAND, Calif. – The Oakland placed shortstop Elvis Andrus on the Paternity List and recalled infielder Vimael Machín from Triple-A Las Vegas, the club announced today.
Machín, who returns for his third stint with the A’s this season, last played with the Club on June 26 against San Francisco. In 10 games with Oakland this year, he is hitting .048 with one RBI. In 65 games with Las Vegas, however, he is hitting .304 with an .887 OPS, including nine home runs and 48 RBI.
For the year, Andrus is hitting .231 with three home runs, 28 RBI, 10 stolen bases, and a .696 OPS and is fourth among Major League shortstops with 110 games played. He also leads all active players with 315 career stolen bases.
