OAKLAND, Calif. — The Oakland A’s recalled left-handed pitcher Hogan Harris and selected infielder Tyler Wade from Triple-A Las Vegas, the club announced today. The A’s optioned right-handed pitcher Adam Oller and infielder Nick Allen to Las Vegas and designated outfielder Cal Stevenson for assignment.
Harris was 0-1 with a 6.23 ERA in two starts with the Aviators. He allowed four runs on three hits and nine walks in 4.1 innings and struck out five. The 26-year-old left-hander was the A’s third round selection in the 2018 First-Year Player Draft and will be making his Major League debut. Harris is 3-10 with a 3.26 ERA in 40 career appearances, including 37 starts, in the minors. He has held the opposition to a .183 batting average and struck out 175 batters in 132.2 innings. Harris missed the 2018 and 2021 seasons due to ulnar collateral ligament problems that eventually led to “Tommy John” surgery. He also did not pitch in 2020 due to the pandemic.
Wade was a non-roster invitee with the A’s this spring and hit .275 with four RBI and five stolen bases in 25 games. He went 10-for-35 (.286) with four RBI, six walks and a Pacific Coast League leading seven stolen bases in 10 games with Las Vegas. The 28-year-old left-handed hitter started five games at shortstop, two in right field, one in center field, one at second base and one at third base. Wade made his Major League debut with New York (AL) in 2017 and is a .214 career hitter with seven home runs, 41 RBI and 38 stolen bases in 331 games in six seasons in the majors with the Yankees (2017-21) and Angels (2022).
Oller allowed seven runs on eight hits in 2.1 innings in a start at Baltimore yesterday and was 0-0 with a 9.00 ERA in three games, including one start, overall. Allen was on the Opening Day roster and was 1-for-16 in eight games. Stevenson began the season with Las Vegas and was hitting .348 with six walks and three stolen bases in seven games.
