McDonald led the rookie class with 59 assists and 25 steals in 2021
ATLANTA – Atlanta Dream guard Aari McDonald was named to the WNBA All-Rookie Team, the league announced on Tuesday.
In her first season in the WNBA, McDonald averaged 6.3 points, 1.6 rebounds, 2.0 assists and 0.8 steals per game with the Dream.
McDonald’s 59 assists and 25 steals led all first-year players in the league this season, and her 189 total points, 32 made three-point field goals and 104 three-pointers attempted all rank second. She also led all first-year players with a 20.7% usage rate.
McDonald was consistent from the free throw line, shooting 88.2 percent from the charity stripe (45 of 51), the highest percentage on the team among players who attempted at least 30 free throws (second overall). She set the Atlanta Dream record for consecutive free throws made with 31 straight from May 25 to August 15, at one point the longest active streak in the league.
