Dodgers activate LHP Garrett Cleavinger

LOS ANGELES – The Los Angeles Dodgers activated left-handed pitcher Garrett Cleavinger from the injured list and optioned outfielder Luke Raley to Triple-A Oklahoma City.

Cleavinger, 27, returns after missing 27 games with left shoulder inflammation. Prior to being placed on the IL, the southpaw appeared in eight games for the Dodgers, allowing six runs (three earned) in 6.0 innings this season. He made four rehab appearances, going 0-0 with a 0.00 ERA (0 ER/ 4.0 IP) and seven strikeouts with Triple-A Oklahoma City. He was acquired from the Philadelphia Phillies in the three-team trade with the Tampa Bay Rays and Phillies on December 20, 2020. He was originally drafted in the 3rd round of the 2015 First Year Player Draft by the Phillies out of the University of Oregon.

Raley, 26, went 0-for-2 in two games in his fourth stint with the club. On the season, he is hitting .180 (9-for-50) with one homer and two RBI in 53 games for the Dodgers. In parts of five minor league seasons, he is a career .290 hitter with 52 career homers and 207 RBI. He was acquired by the Dodgers from the Minnesota Twins on February 10, 2020 along with Brusdar Graterol in exchange for Kenta Maeda and minor leaguer Jair Camargo.
