Lightning’s Sergachev Suspended Two Games for Illegal Check to the Head

NEW YORK – Tampa Bay Lightning defenseman Mikhail Sergachev has been suspended for two games, without pay, for an illegal check to the head of Toronto Maple Leafs forward Mitchell Marner during NHL Game No. 149 in Toronto on Thursday, Nov. 4, the National Hockey League’s Department of Player Safety announced today.

The incident occurred at 17:47 of the first period. Sergachev was assessed a minor penalty for illegal check to the head.

Under the terms of the Collective Bargaining Agreement and, based on his average annual salary, Sergachev will forfeit $48,000.00. The money goes to the Players’ Emergency Assistance Fund.
